Tell me all about yourself, how long have you been in the business?
I’ve been designing bridal for 20 years and studied fashion design in Germany. I started my business here back in 2000.
What made you delve into bridal?
I always had the passion for bridalwear, it’s something that I absolutely love creating and giving that individuality to each bride is just amazing. Seeing their smile at the end of the day, on their special day it’s just priceless to me.
What have you been doing recently? Tell me about your latest collection and what inspired it.
We don’t have the latest collection as we have been really busy with brides. It’s more working with brides one on one. I’m inspired by the individual bridal.
What else inspires you?
Because it’s not a collection or a ready to wear when you’re creating a gown for a specific person so you just have to see what suits them, how to accentuate their beauty. That’s what inspires me, each woman. Her personality as well, because the wedding dress has to reflect her personality.
How would you describe your style as a designer?
I’m elegant and sophisticated. More of a classic look.
Have you noticed any trends that people are asking for more?
Definitely princess line is back in. Also going back to tradition.
What about colours?
Well, we do every now and then but off white, not too dark and not too light all are being asked for more and every now and then you do get some brides who’re asking to be a little bit different.
Do you look forward to that sort of thing?
Yes definitely. I always love the challenge and being different – definitely. I had a few gold [coloured gowns] this year too.
What do you love about being a designer?
A lot of things. Mainly I love my work, I love creating, I love sewing, I love dealing with my clients and making them happy. Obviously I love making their dream wedding dresses. That’s the most important thing to me and that’s what I enjoy the most – every day.
Do you have a certain type of fabric you enjoy working with the most?
No, not really, I do love my laces though.
Do you have any advice for future brides looking for their perfect dress?
I would just say, look for something that suits your body shape and not to follow what’s “in”. That’s sometimes a mistake that brides make. They go with what’s in at the moment and what other brides are wearing and they forget about what suits their own body. So it’s always good to try different styles and see in your own eyes what style suits better on her and try not really care about being fashionable or in. This is what I always advise my brides.
Where do you think your brands going in the future? Are you looking to expand?
It’s always the dream for any designer. I’m working on it, always working to expand and achieve more goals. Be international.
What do you think makes your brand unique?
I think attention to details and my understanding of what my brides want and how they want to look on their special day and translating that into the gown and the perfect fit.
